Dorothy Brown

Dorothy Brown, age 88, passed away at her home on Old Quogue Road, in Riverhead on Wednesday February 10, 2016. She was born on January 30, 1928 to John Edley and Mary Overton. Dorothy was a homemaker and also worked at Hollis Warner Duck Farm. She was a member of N.C.N.W. National Council of Negro Women and the N.A.A.C.P. Dorothy was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Riverhead. She loved to travel, was a talented seamstress, avid gardener, great cook and baker. She is survived by her loving husband Frank, of 67 years, beloved daughters Shirley Brown, Deborah Brown and Joan Brown - Smith. She was also a devoted grandmother of 2 and great grandmother of 3. Visitation for Dorothy will be on Sunday, February 14, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Tuthill - Mangano Funeral Home on Main Street in Riverhead. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Riverhead, Monday, February 15, 10:00 am, with Rev. Charles Coverdale and Rev. Cynthia Liggon officiating. Interment to follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Center Moriches, NY.
