Debra A. Jones

September 2, 1959 — August 30, 2021

Debra Anne Jones-Barnes was born on September 2nd, 1959 to Shirley Massay in
Georgetown, Guyana. She attended school there and received an opportunity to immigrate to
the USA as a teenager. Debra lived in Brooklyn, NY for a number of years before moving to
Georgia where she resided in Jonesboro. Caring for patients all over the United States, Debra
worked in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant for decades.
She enjoyed cooking, baking bread, traveling, and loved to dance to a great tune. She lived in
Brooklyn for a number of years providing and caring for her family. Debra was a compassionate,
warm-hearted, and jovial free spirit with a beautiful smile. Her children Dewhit, Wilden, and
Abrine loved and cherished their mother deeply. Often sharing their homes, celebrating her with
gifts, gatherings, and other displays of love. Debra adored and was very proud of her children.
Abrine Shameka Martin, MBA RHIA was born to Debra Jones on March 18, 1983 in Brooklyn,
NY at St. Mary's Hospital. She grew up in Brooklyn where she later graduated from Boys and
Girls High School. Abrine was very passionate about her future and using education as a tool to
achieve her dreams.
Abrine adored her mother so much that she also worked in the healthcare field in various
technical, administration, and medical roles. She attained her MBA in Project Management in
2018 along with a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management in 2011 and secured an
AHIMA coding and management certification in Registered Health Information Administration
(RHIA). She worked as a Sr. Clinical Quality Analyst for the past few years.
She was entrepreneurial so she started and managed not only a travel agency service but also
a home catering business with her fiancée Greg called ' Dbesbite'. Everyone loved Greg and
Abrine's food so much they asked them to create a catering service so Dbestbite began. Abrine,
like her mom Debra, loved to travel, especially going on cruises. Even this year she visited Las
Vegas, Arizona, and saw the Hoover Dam.
Her friendly nature, infectious smile and laugh always drew people to her. She was a foodie who
loved to explore new eateries. Additionally, she helped the local community by feeding the
homeless on occasion. Abrine was truly a remarkable individual who loved her son and family
dearly, with a particular soft spot for her mother, Debra.
Tragically after a lengthy battle with COVID, Debra and her daughter Abrine passed away on
August 30th, 2021.
