Francis "Frank" Henry Wyss

HUDSON FALLS and EAST HAMPTON, LI– Francis “Frank” H. Wyss, 93, of Hudson Falls and formerly of East Hampton, LI, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
Born on February 16, 1924, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Zihlar) Wyss.
Frank served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945, serving in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe during WWII. Because of his heroic service, he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four bronze battle stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Frank worked with his brother Joe’s Excavating company in Deer Park most of his life. At the age of 86, he worked part time at East Hampton High School District, as a custodian, just to keep himself busy. Frank worked there for three years.
He and his wife, Ethel loved to travel in their motor home, stopping in over a dozen states. In 2013, he moved to Hudson Falls to live with his step daughter, Pat. At the age of 91, he traveled to Jamaica to attend his grandson, Paul’s wedding. He like to go to the Saratoga Races with his son, James and had a special bond with is great grandchildren, Casey and Ethan Boucher and Jackson and Emma Wyss.
Frank was a generous, gentle man, never raising his voice to anyone and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Traffica) Wyss and his second wife, Ethel (Grover) Mullen, whom he married on August 14, 1976, also his siblings, Theresa “Tess” Wood and Joseph Wyss and his son in law, Paul Boucher.
Frank is survived by his son, James Wyss and his significant other, Linda of Saratoga; his step children, John Mullen and his wife, Earlinda of Lufkin, TX, Phillip Mullen, Sr, and his wife, Ellen of Hyattsville, MD, Edward Mullen of Hudson Falls and Patricia (Mullen) Boucher of Hudson Falls; sister, Marie Trabona of Deer Park, LI; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
