Franklin Snell

June 2, 1938 — July 21, 2022

On July 21, 2022, heaven gained one more angel through the passing of Franklin Snell. Franklin was the son of the late Daniel and Willia Mae Snell. He was born in Eutawville, South Carolina on June 2, 1938, the eldest of three children.
Franklin was wise and demonstrated tremendous love for his family and community. He took on many responsibilities at a young age, caring for his mother and siblings. He attended Roberts High School before enlisting in the United States Air force as a teenager, where he served as a radar operator. He travelled domestically and abroad in Spain and Germany. He valued his service highly and often shared stories with his children about his time in the military. Franklin never missed an opportunity to participate and march in numerous Veterans Day parades and in veteran ceremonies.
After two years in the military, Franklin came home and married his childhood sweetheart Christine Fludd on June 14, 1958. He then returned to military duties for the remainder of his tour and was released with an honorable discharge and grade of Airman. Franklin and Christine shared 64 years of marriage and their greatest blessings are their amazing children and grandchildren. Franklin was a wonderful, loving husband and an incredible father, grandfather, and friend to all.
He held various jobs over the years including working as a chemist at Hexagon Laboratories, machinist at Sealtest, and the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from Brookhaven National Laboratory where he received numerous awards for attendance and dedicated service. He took great pride in being a volunteer fireman, Mason of Aram Lodge no. 60 and loved spending quality time with his family and friends.
Franklin kept people rolling in laughter because he could find humor in the most mundane life circumstances. Sharing his quick wit, humor, laughter and generosity of which he gave unconditionally. Franklin had a kind compassionate spirit, fun-loving personality and loved children. He was never one to shy away from making everyone laugh and loved bringing a smile to your face.
Franklin’s pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. His loving heart has left a beacon of light for his family and community. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of being a part of his life or just meeting him once. Franklin’s spirit will live on in the joy, love and laughter he brought to our lives.
Franklin was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Snell, Sr. and Willia Mae Snell and brother, Daniel Snell, Jr.
