Gerard Kennedy

August 27, 1965 — August 27, 2019

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Gerard Kennedy passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, his 54th birthday. Gerard was a loving husband and father, a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He died as he lived, helping others.
Born and raised in New York, Gerard graduated from St. Pius V School. He joined the NYPD soon after and served as an exemplary member for 20 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 2007. After his retirement, he devoted his time to his family and to his Church, working as the primary caretaker of the St. Pius V School building and property and tirelessly serving the Sisters, teachers and students there. An avid golfer, one of his favorite pastimes was spending time on the links with his father, brothers and cousins.
Gerard has been described by many as the epitome of the true Catholic gentleman. He was a wonderful example to all, and he had a truly generous heart. He never hesitated to help others, and he always did so with a smile on his face, humbly waving off any attempts to thank or praise him. We are all blessed and grateful to have had him in our lives, and we ask that you please continue to pray for the repose of his soul, as well as for his grieving family and friends.
Gerard is survived by his wife Maureen (Fantz); children Caitlin, Bridget, Kevin, Daniel, Patrick, Mary, Maureen and Peter; parents Patrick and Myra; siblings Patrick, Tommy, Sean, Peter, Joan Marie and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and loving friends.

The Kennedy family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Pius V School.
