James P. Lull

Former Riverhead resident James P. Lull of Lancaster, PA died of natural causes on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was 50 years old. Born in Riverhead on May 11,1965, he was the son of James and Connie Lull. He attended Riverhead public schools and graduated from Riverhead High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Dowling College and a master's degree and a certificate of education administration from Stony Brook University. He worked as a counselor at Keystone Human Services in Lancaster, where he moved in 2013. Previously, he taught mathematics and computer science for many years at Hampton Bays High School, where he also coached track and football. He later worked as an administrator in the Bellmore - Merrick, Wyandanch and Westhampton Beach school districts. He was an avid long - distance runner. He loved music and drama and was a member of the Riverhead Faculty Community Theatre. He was an EMT and served with the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Riverhead, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the church choir. He was a longtime volunteer for the Riverhead Country Fair, which he served as co-chair in 2011 and 2012. Predeceased by his father in 2012, he is survived by his mother, his sister Cynthia Lull Hill and her husband Kevin Hill, of Fairport, New York, his brother Jason and his wife Stacy Yakaboski, of Wading River and Carrie Lull LaCombe and her husband AJ LaCombe, of Riverhead. He is survived by nieces and nephews: Riley and Morgan Hill, of Fairport, New York; Ryan, Ian and Zachary Lull, of Wading River; and Christopher Lull, Jordyn, Matthew and Peyton LaCombe, of Riverhead. Memorial visitation for James will be on Thursday, March 3rd, 7-9 pm, at Tuthill - Mangano Funeral Home, Riverhead. Memorial service will be on Friday, March 4th, 12:00 pm, at First Congregational Chuch of Riverhead.
