Jeannette Giselle Justafort, 85, affectionately known as “Gisou," "Manmi Gisele," and "Mima", of Wyandanch, NY, passed away October 8, 2022. She was born October 14, 1936 to the late Mr & Mrs Bernier Zephyr. Jeanette was the oldest sibling of 14 children. Jeanette was known for her impeccable style and her beautiful custom-made hats. She was also very skilled in sewing and made and altered many of her and her children’s outfits. Jeannette was known by all her loved ones as the hat lady.

She was a faithful member at Ephese French 7th Day Adventist Church and served as a deaconess for many years. Her faith in God and serving in the church was of utmost priority for her. She was dependable and was very consistent in attending and participating in the daily prayer calls, serving meals after service, visiting the sick, and supporting whatever needs that arose in the church.

Her hobbies included reading her bible, sewing, singing hymns from her song book, cooking delicious meals, and spending time with her children and grandchildren which was her greatest joy.

In her earlier years, she worked as a primary school teacher at Ecole Du Canada where she befriended Renette Jean-Jacques who became more like a sister to her. She retired after many years of dedicated service. She then transitioned as a stay-at-home mom to care for her family including many nieces, nephews, and numerous others whom she welcomed into her home and took care of as if they were her own children . She was an excellent care taker and she took great pride in raising her children and grandchildren. Although she was very nurturing, she was also known for giving tough love whenever necessary.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Frantz Justafort, Martin Justafort, Cassandre Justafort-Lamonge, and her nephew Serge Justafort, whom she lovingly referred to as her son.
