Patricia J. Barbarita

September 27, 1927 — January 1, 2020

Patricia J Barbarita, age 92, was called home peacefully on January 1, 2020. She was born in New York, NY. For 58 years she was married to the love of her life, Robert, who preceded her in death in 2006. They raised their three children in Commack, NY. Pat retired from the Commack School District and then later worked and retired from Huntington Hospital.

“Pat” was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who treasured any time spent with her family. She was a wonderful cook and housekeeper. She was always the first person to offer help to anyone who needed it, even if it meant giving someone the shirt off of her back. She would play “old” board games with her grandchildren for hours and loved to cross-stitch little pictures to hang in her home and give to others. Even as she aged, she was a strikingly beautiful woman who looked years younger. And as we know she is with her beloved “Bob” in heaven, we will miss her dearly and our lives will never be the same without her. The two of them are now dancing to their Italian love songs and enjoying a spaghetti dinner.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Barbarita (Patricia), Diane Ferriolo, Joseph Barbarita (Kathleen), seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren all of whom she adored. She is also survived by many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, family would like to request donations be sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering who took such great care of her as she fought and survived two bouts of breast cancer. You can donate on-line at https://giving.mskcc.org/ or mail to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Office of Development, P.O Box 27106, New York, NY 10087.

The family would like to thank Lehigh Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital of Ft. Myers, Florida for their compassionate and loving care of Pat during her final days.
