"With aching hearts, we share the loss of Aaron Salahadine Mitchell, who died far too soon on June 18, 2026, in Bay Shore, New York. Born on January 6, 2009, in Islip, New York, Aaron brought light and joy to all who were blessed to know him. Everyone seemed to have a special nickname for Aaron. To his father, he was "Big Aaron"; to his mother, "Buddy"; to his sister Ava, "Sweetie"; to his sister Alexis, "Brother!!"; and to his oldest sister, Makayla, he would always be her "Baby Brother."
Aaron’s gentle spirit was evident to all—whether it was the smile he wore so easily or the laughter that quickly filled any room he entered. His presence brought comfort and joy to family, friends, teachers, coaches, classmates, teammates, and all who were blessed enough to cross his path. He was highly intelligent, hilarious, and quick witted, never lacking a response. He was gifted and quiet, yet also the life of the party. Not many know this, but he was also in a movie! He enjoyed sports, especially track, and was part of the track team at Brentwood High School. He also enjoyed watching basketball, which was second only to his love for track.
Aaron is survived by his parents, Salahadine and Mellony, his sisters: Makayla, Alexis, and Ava, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. He is predeceased by his grandmothers: Khadijah "Modestine" Davis and Maureen Elaine Holland. Though words can never fully express the sorrow felt in the wake of Aaron's tragic death, they can capture the love, gentleness, and quiet strength that defined his character. Our hearts are heavy, but they are also filled with gratitude for every memory, every moment, and every lesson Aaron shared during his journey among us.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Aaron at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729, for visitation on June 30, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service will be held at the same location at 5:00 PM."
