Andrew Filangeri

Andrew Filangeri, born on December 23, 1951, in the Bronx, New York to his parents Salvatore and Constance, passed away on June 3, 2025. He was a cherished individual whose dedication and devotion to his family were evident in every aspect of his life. Andrew spent his professional career as a Sanitation Driver for the Town of Oyster Bay, where his commitment to service and hard work was a point of pride. His colleagues and those he served will remember him fondly, not only for his tireless work ethic but also for the kindness he extended to others. Family was paramount to Andrew, and he loved them deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Filangeri, and his daughter, Candice, along with her husband David Agoglia. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Seth and Lucy, who brought him immense joy. Andrew is also survived by his loving sister Ann Marie Ceci.

Beyond his family, Andrew was known for his infectious passion for baseball, especially his adoration for the New York Yankees. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia, often reminiscing about his favorite players and thrilling moments of games past. His love for baseball was matched only by his enthusiasm for classic cars; he proudly owned a 1988 classic Corvette that turned heads wherever it went. A true enthusiast, Andrew basked in the glory of car shows and collected numerous trophies, each a testament to his dedication and flair.

Andrew was deeply involved in his community, exemplifying the values of service and brotherhood. His long-standing commitment as a volunteer with the Sons of Italy was marked by a profound passion for community engagement. He served as a past president of the organization, inspiring many with his dedication to cultural heritage and social responsibility. Additionally, he enjoyed sharing knowledge and experiences as a tour guide for students at the Fire Island Lighthouse, where he imparted his love for history and the great outdoors.

Friends, family, and all who knew Andrew are invited to pay their respects at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, located at 455 Hunter Avenue, West Islip, NY, at 10:30 AM. Andrew Filangeri will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His warmth, dedication, and love for family will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
