Anna D'Amaro

October 22, 1954 — September 6, 2025

Middle Island

Anna D’Amaro née Capaldo, a woman whose love, thoughtfulness, faith, and open heart touched everyone she met, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, in Stony Brook, New York, at the age of 70.

Born in Brooklyn on October 22, 1954, Anna radiated love from the very beginning. She had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for, whether through her heartfelt words, her generosity, or simply the way she listened with her whole heart. Anna was known for going to the ends of the earth to make those she loved happy, with a thoughtfulness that went far beyond measure.

Her love for Jesus became the foundation of her life, and she shared that faith freely with others. She brought Jesus into her family and to so many around her. His influence was always evident in her compassion, grace, and the way she gave of herself to others.

Family was the center of Anna’s world, and her greatest joy came from the moments she spent with them. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Paul D’Amaro, her daughter Mary Wittman and her partner Michael Blais, and her son Paul E. D’Amaro and his partner Rebecca Nagy. They will carry forward her spirit of love, joy, and devotion.

Anna was also a beloved sister to her brothers Anthony Cangiano, Robert Capaldo, and Paul Capaldo, and she was predeceased by her brothers Chris Capaldo and Edward Capaldo. She shared sister-like bonds with her sisters-in-law Debbie Cangiano, Cheryl Capaldo, and Debbie Capaldo, whose closeness, laughter, and affection meant the world to her. Together, they created a circle of family and friendship that will endure in her memory.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Mary Capaldo, and she now reunites with them in eternal peace.

Anna adored her many nieces and nephews and was a deeply special aunt. Her love for them was endless, and she had a way of making each one feel uniquely valued. They will forever remember her affection, her generosity, and the joy she brought to their lives.

Anna will also be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her extended D’Amaro family, whose lives were enriched by her presence.

Anna’s presence filled gatherings with light, and her absence will leave a profound void. She will be remembered for her immense capacity to love, her open heart, her authenticity, and her ability to lift others with her care. Above all, Anna was well loved — by her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to know her. She wore her heart on her sleeve and never hesitated to say “I love you”, words that always rang true. Her faith in Jesus was her constant strength, and her family and friends take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

A memorial service to celebrate Anna’s life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, 210 Woodlawn Avenue, St. James, New York.
