Barbara Ann Schien, a radiant spirit whose life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering passion for her family and community, departed this world on June 12, 2025, just shy of her 85th birthday, which she would have celebrated on June 17. Her legacy is one of kindness, warmth, and an enduring devotion that touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Born in 1940, Barbara dedicated her life to those she cherished most. She was the loving and adoring wife of Tasso for an extraordinary 60 years, a partnership that embodied the essence of true companionship. Together, they built a life filled with memories, joys, and unbreakable bonds, nurturing a family grounded in love and support.

As a mother, Barbara was a cherished figure, instilling in her daughter, Wendy and her husband Vic, and son, Robert, the values of compassion and resilience. She embraced the role of grandmother with an open heart, showering her grandsons, Mitchell and Anthony, with affection, wisdom, and endless joy. Each moment spent together was a treasure, as she sculpted their lives with laughter, guidance, and the simple delight of shared experiences.

Barbara's vibrant personality shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She was known for her love of conversation, a delightful trait that served her well in her professional journey, where she relished the opportunity to interact with others. Her warm smile could brighten even the dullest days.

A lover of sports, Barbara found joy in soccer and tennis, activities that not only enriched her life but also provided cherished moments with her family and friends. Her culinary skills were legendary; she took immense pleasure in cooking for her loved ones, creating meals that were not just sustenance but expressions of her love and care. The kitchen was where her heart resided, crafting delicious dishes that gathered her family around the table, fostering connections that strengthened their bond.

Though the loss of her grandson Devin and son Robert has cast a shadow on her beloved family, the love Barbara imparted shall live on in the hearts of her surviving family members. She will be remembered not only for her joyous spirit and dedication but also for the indelible mark she left on the lives she touched.

Barbara's life will be celebrated with a visitation at the Deer Park – Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY. Friends and family are invited to gather on June 18, with visitations from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, followed by a prayer service at 8:00 PM. The following day, a burial service at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 1pm.
