Benigno Bouzas, affectionately known as "El Matracon," departed this world on September 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with pride, discipline, love, and cherished memories. Born on October 21, 1935, in the quaint village of Vilaxoan de Arousa, Galicia, Spain, Benigno's journey through life was one of resilience and hard work, marked by profound connections with family and friends.
For 55 blessed years, Benigno shared his life with his beloved wife, Maye Bouzas, who predeceased him. Their marriage was a testament to true companionship, filled with timeless moments that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and the bond they nurtured continues to shine brightly through their children.
Benigno is survived by his supportive son, Jac, and his wife, Diana; his devoted daughter, Sara, and her husband, Victor; his caring daughter, Dolores; and his loving son, Miguel, and his wife, Alex. His heart was further warmed by the laughter and joy of his six grandchildren: Dana, Amanda, Skylar, Manolito, Ava, and Beni. Each grandchild brought a unique spark into his life, and he took immense pride in watching them grow and flourish, often sharing stories and wisdom that transcended generations.
Benigno began working as a child and left home at 15 to work as a carpenter. After immigrating to the United States with nothing, searching for the American dream, he started working immediately. He valued hard work, investing for the future, and putting family first. He remained active and healthy, even doing physical labor months before his death. Benigno maintained friendships across generations and regularly supported his family in Spain after moving to the US.
As we reflect upon the beautiful life of Benigno Bouzas, we remember not only his accomplishments but also the love, wisdom, and advice he so willingly shared with everyone around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy will guide us as we carry his memory forward.
