Carlos Luis Saavedra was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on December 28th, 1938 to his parents Luis and Olga Saavedra. Carlos immigrated to the United States in 1963 and began his life in America working hard to begin his next chapter alongside his wife Magnolia.
Together, Carlos and Magnolia settled in Queens where they began their family, having two daughters, Carol and Dianna. Eventually, their family moved east to Deer Park. They enjoyed the remainder of his life in the same home; a home with countless memories, celebrations, laughs, and meaningful moments.
Carlos earned a degree in accounting and worked at Banco La Previsora. This was a long sought out, fulfilled dream that he bravely stepped away from to expand his horizons in the United States.
His first and longest venture in America was with Avis Car Rental. A career that lasted nearly four decades and opened many doors.
Thanks to Carlos’ commitment and success in his career, he had the opportunity to provide a life of adventure to his family; something they are eternally grateful for. From road trips around the United States, checking states and parks off their bucket list to heartwarming trips to visit family in Ecuador.
Carlos and Magnolia were always together. They had an unbreakable bond that took them around the world together. They enjoyed trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, England, Germany, Canada, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Carlos would do anything for a laugh. When not entertaining a room you could find him taking over the dance floor, listening to music, watching the Mets, catching a football or soccer game, or walking around his neighborhood.
Nothing brought Carlos more pride than watching his beloved grandchildren grow up. He was an active part of their life; always taking care of them and filling their life with joy. He went out of his way to support them any way he could. He was a family man who gave his all to those he loved.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Magnolia; his two daughters: Carol (Brendan) and Dianna (Edward); his three grandchildren: Meagan (Nicholas), Ryan (Halley), and Nolan; his sister: Luisa; his two brothers: Carlos Manuel (late wife, Gloria) and Miguel (Lourdes); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Luis.
