Catherine Rhein

December 21, 1949 — April 14, 2026

West Babylon, NY

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Rhein, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, who left us on April 14, 2026. Born on December 21, 1949, in Flushing, NY to her parents Paul and Catherine. Catherine lived a life filled with warmth, adventure, and an ever-present spirit of generosity.

Catherine graduated with a high school diploma and embraced life with a passion that was both inspiring and comforting. She was known for her adventurous nature and social spirit, qualities that endeared her to many throughout her lifetime. She held a special fondness for lighthouses, symbols that echoed her own steadfast guidance and light to those around her. Her love for Montauk and the whimsical charm of Betty Boop reflected a joyful and playful side that she shared generously with family and friends.

But above all, Catherine’s heart belonged to her family. Her loving and generous nature shone brightest when she was with her grandchildren. She treasured precious moments cooking alongside them, creating memories seasoned with love and laughter that will endure in their hearts forever.

Catherine is lovingly remembered by her children: Christina Bonino, Phil Rhein and his wife Leah, her dear grandchildren Gianna Rhein, Cole Bonino, and Andrew Bonino; as well as her siblings Patricia Kendell, Paul Metesh, Christine Metesh, and Paula Metesh. Each of them carries forward the legacy of her kindness and vibrant spirit.

Visitation services to honor and celebrate Catherine’s life will be held on April 17, 2026, at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. These will take place in two segments, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and later from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering family and friends the opportunity to share stories, memories, and their love for a woman who touched so many lives.

Catherine Rhein’s journey through life was marked by a light that never dimmed—a beacon of warmth, love, and adventure. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit remains bright, continuing to guide and inspire us all. We hold onto her memory tenderly, grateful for the time we shared and the love that endures beyond goodbye.
