Dennis Zirpoli, born June 6, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away, peacefully, on January 26, 2026
.Dennis was the son of Carmine and Adelaide Zirpoli and was preceded in death by his brothers Philip, Bruce, and Erick, who now welcome him home.
He is survived by his partner of 14 years, Jamie Malsam, who was his constant companion and travel partner. Dennis was also a proud and devoted uncle to nine nieces and nephews, fifteen great-nieces and great-nephews, two great-great-nephews and one great-great niece. He followed their lives closely and wholeheartedly—celebrating every success, supporting them through challenges, and never missing a moment that mattered. His love for his family was quiet and steady, generous, and unmistakable!
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class aboard the USS Bigelow, stationed out of Mayport, Florida. Like many of his generation, he served his country, proudly, during a time of war, with quiet resolve and a deep sense of duty. He was honorably discharged and received several commendations for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. Though Dennis rarely spoke at length about his service, it remained a meaningful and defining part of who he was as a man.
After his military service and time in the reserves, Dennis returned home and went on to spend 30 years with the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority, working as an Electrical Engineer and Switch Manager. He took pride in his work and knowing he played a role in keeping the city running.
Dennis will be remembered for his loyalty, his quiet humility, and the way he showed his love through presence and consistency rather than words. He was someone you could count on—always. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he celebrated so fiercely. He will be remembered lovingly and sorely missed.
