Dorothy Bonanno

Dorothy Bonanno, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 5th, 2023 in West Islip, New York. She was born on April 10th, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York to Sebastian Badagliacca and Dorothy Polito.

For those who knew her best, they will always remember Dorothy's delicious home-cooked meals. Cooking was not just a hobby for her; it was an expression of love. Her kitchen always smelled amazing and there was always something for everyone. Her passion for cooking reflected her passion for family, making sure that everyone was well-fed and happy.

Dorothy met the love of her life Louis Bonanno and they married shortly after. Their love story was one admired by many as they remained devoted to each other until Louis’s passing. Anyone who knew them could see that their bond went beyond words.

Dorothy’s true joy in life came from being a part of her grandchildren's lives. Charles, Nina and Gianna were the light of her life; she loved nothing more than spending time with them. The memories she created with them will forever be cherished.

Visitation services will be held at Deer Park- Mangano Family Funeral Home on June 7th from 2:00 pm- 4:30 pm and again from 7:00 pm- 9:30 pm. A Mass will be held on June 8th at St. Matthew RC Church in Dix Hills at 10:45 am.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Louis Bonanno. She is survived by her loving son Michael (Sharon) Bonanno, daughter Dorothy (Charles)  Ricottoni and her grandchildren Charles, Nina, and Gianna; and many other family members and friends who deeply mourn her passing.

Dorothy's unwavering love for life and family live on through those she touched in her time with us. She will be truly missed but never forgotten.
