Dorothy Messner born in Brooklyn in 1926. One of 11 children born to Alfred and Caroline Berger. Loving wife of the late Henry. Dorothy Messner, a radiant spirit whose life was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering passion for her family, community and church departed this world on June 16, 2025.
Children; Gail, Joy (Ray), Terry (Rose), and Todd. Grandchildren; Jamie, Douglas (Rebecka), Meredith (David), Nicholas, Corrine. Great grandchildren; Michael, Scarlett, Nicholas. Sister Muriel Kropinak, Brother Edward Berger.
Her legacy is one of kindness, warmth, unconditional love for her family, and an enduring devotion that touched the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Dorothy dedicated her life to those she loved the most. She was a loving and adoring wife of Henry Messner for 38 years; a partnership and embodied love respect and commitment to her family.
Together they built a life filled with memories, joys, and unbreakable bonds, nurturing a family filled with love support and strength.
She embraced and adored her role as a grandmother with an open heart teaching and guiding her grandchildren, Jamie, Douglas, Nicholas, Meredith and Corrine with affection, wisdom, and endless memories. Each moment spent together was a gift as she sculpted their lives with laughter, guidance, love and support.
Dorothy also cherished her great grandchildren, Michael, Scarlett, and Nicholas .
Dorothy's angelic and vibrant personality shined as bright as a star in the night sky. She was known for her love of dancing, laughing and making anyone around her smile.
Dorothy could never find any wrong in anyone, she only saw the good people and tried hard to bring that good out even when things got tough. Her warm smile and compassion could brighten even the dullest days.
Dorothy loved to volunteer at bingo at Saint Cyril and Methodius and she loved family get-togethers. She was always the life of the party always standing out in a radiant fashion.
Dorothy was a devoted Catholic attending Saint Cyril and Methodius Church. Dorothy influenced anyone around her to be a better, happier, more loving person, always trying to make people see the brighter side of life.
Dorothy will be remembered, not only for her joyous spirit and dedication, but also for the incredible mark she left on the lives she touched.
If there was one sentence to sum up the life of Dorothy, it would be the world lost an angel, but heaven gained a Saint.

A visitation will be held in honor of Dorothy on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM at Mangano Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729. A mass will be held following visitation at 10:15 AM at Ss. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 125 Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park, NY 11729. Burial to follow immediately after at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
