Espedito John Gatto, a cherished member of his family and a respected individual in his community, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on April 12, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, he carried the spirit of his roots throughout his life. Espedito was a proud U.S.M.C. Veteran.
Espedito was the beloved husband of the late Roberta Gatto. Together, they created a loving home that was filled with laughter and warmth. He is survived by his devoted children, Rhonda and her husband Jim Juliano, Ronald and his wife Annmarie Gatto, and Michael and his wife Esperanza Gatto. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Ali and her husband Ryan, Chrissie and her husband Dan, Marissa and her husband Kevin, Elle and her husband Chris, Anthony and his wife Jenna, Gianna, Robert and his fiancée Alexandria, Danielle, Laurie and her husband Greg, Jan Michael and his wife Julie, and Joshua. Espedito's family grew to include seven great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Rebecca, Thomas, Nicholas, Alex, Skylar, and Mason, each of whom he adored immensely.
Espedito shared his life with his siblings, including his sister Theresa and sister-in-law's Marie and Phyllis. He was preceded in death by his brothers, the late Sal and the late Jimmy, who left behind lasting memories in the hearts of their family.
A visitation will be held at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY, on January 30, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Mass in his honor will follow at Saint Matthew, located at 35 North Service Rd, Dix Hills, NY, on January 31, 2026, at 9:45 AM, concluding at 10:45 AM.
Espedito John Gatto will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and the positive impact he made on all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones, who will continue to celebrate his life and cherish the memories they hold dear.
