Felicita Irma Munoz Rivera

Nov 12, 1938 — Jul 30, 2026

Deer Park, New York

Felicita Irma Munoz Rivera of Deer Park, NY, passed away on Thursday July 30 at the age of 87. She was born on November 12, 1938 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, the eldest daughter of Juan and Benedicta Munoz. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ramos, and her brother, Daniel Munoz. She is survived by her daughter Vilma Adams, son-in-law Wilborn Adams, her grandchildren Patrick and Kaitlyn, Wilborn B. Adams, whom she considered a grandchild, her four siblings: Carmen Nilda Serrano and her husband John, Lydia “Mercy” Negron and her husband Jose, Maria “Soqui” Munoz, and Ernesto “Tito” Munoz, and her sister-in-law Norma Munoz. Irma's love extended beyond immediate family, touching the lives of countless nephews, nieces, godchildren, and friends who will remember her fondly.

At the age of 16, Irma left her home in La Pica with the hope of providing a better life and opportunity for her family. She worked hard to bring her family to New York where they resided on 128th street in Richmond Hill, Queens. Irma worked in the Singer factory until its closure in 1974 and then began her career at Lord & Taylor on February 5, 1975. She then retired from Lord & Taylor in 2000, a few months after her granddaughter was born, in order to take care of her grandchildren full time.

Irma was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and community member. She was very involved with her parish, St. Teresa of Avila, and served as member of the Sacred Heart Society, the Puerto Rican Forum, the Cursillo #395, the Jornada J109, and even the choir.

Irma treated everyone as family and always had an open door with a plate full of food. She was the life of the party, always on the dance floor whether she was 25 or 85. Irma faced her later years with courage while navigating the challenges of dementia, but still continued to dance, sing, and bring smiles to the faces of those she sat with.

Everyone who knew Irma has their own personal stories that will bring us laughs forever. Shared drinks, dances, and memories that will never leave us. She will always be remembered as someone who helped shape and touch so many lives. We will miss her, but her legacy will always remain close to our heart.
