Florianna Lyons

Florianna Lyons, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, in Rockville Centre, New York. Born on January 5, 1944, in Queens, New York, to John and Hildegard Kosar, Florianna lived a life of commitment, love, and devotion to faith, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Florianna's personal life was vibrant and cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Michael Lyons, with whom she shared a beautiful, rich life of adventure, laughter and unconditional support. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Deborah Lyons-Birsner and Catherine Lyons, who carry forward her legacy with pride and affection. Her family was further blessed by the presence of four grandchildren, Corey, Andrew, Leanna and Anthony, and one great-grandchild, Grayson, each of whom brought immeasurable love and fulfillment to her later years.

Throughout her career, Florianna devoted herself to her work at St. Christopher Ottile for 30+ years, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and compassionate spirit towards finding homes for children. Her colleagues remember her as a dependable and a kind-hearted individual whose contributions were boundless.

Family and friends will gather to honor Florianna’s memory at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729, United States. Visitation will be held on March 31, 2026, with two sessions scheduled from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. These services provide an opportunity for all who were touched by Florianna’s spirit and livelihood to pay their respects and celebrate her life. An inurnment will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Saint Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale, NY. 

Florianna Lyons will be remembered not only for her dedication to her career but also for the love and support she gave her family along with her generous heart. Finally reunited with her husband, her memory will remain a guiding light for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
