Born on October 10, 1944, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Francisco lived a life filled with hard work, commitment, and love for his family.
Francisco's career as a mason at Brookhaven National Labs was a testament to his skill and craftsmanship, allowing him to contribute to significant projects throughout his time there. His work ethic and dedication were reflective of his character, instilling a sense of pride among his peers and creating lasting relationships in his professional journey. Having graduated from high school, Francisco valued education and the importance it played in shaping one's future. He was always keen to lend a helping hand and share his wisdom with his children and grandchildren, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. A long-time member of the Gordon Heights Fire Police, he served on the GHFD for over 47 years, a true testament to his character and loyalty.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy. His daughter, Awilda Gaetan, along with his son Frank Gaetan and his wife Christina, cherished their time spent with him. Francisco was a proud grandfather to Romeo Alfredo Harrigan, Corey Alexander Harrigan, Justin Valerio, and Carla Valerio, who filled his life with joy and purpose. He also held a special place in his heart for his great-grandchildren, Romeo A. Harrigan, Ashton Ortiz, and Anakin Ortiz, bringing smiles and laughter to his later years. Francisco is reunited in death with his beloved wife, Laura Franco Gaetan, and his parents, Juan and Marguerita Gaetan, all of whom he missed dearly. Their memories will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of his family and friends.
