Frank Anthony Calandra, Jr., a beloved figure who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on April 30, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York to his parents Frank and Louise Calandra. Frank lived a life characterized by kindness, caring, and a profound commitment to his family and community.
A proud veteran, he served as an Army Sergeant during the Korean War, exemplifying the bravery and dedication that defined his character. Frank returned home to become an integral part of the fabric of his community and a cherished figure among family and friends.
He leaves behind his sons Francesco and his wife Lauri, Joseph and his wife Patricia, and Louis and his wife Kim-Ellen, alongside his daughter Sherry and her husband Jason. Their lives were enriched by Frank’s love and support, and they will carry his legacy forward.
Frank was preceded in death by his late wife Sabbattina and their son, the late Sal. They hold a special place in the hearts of those who remember the cherished moments shared as a family.
A visitation will be held on January 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. A Mass in his honor will take place on January 24, 2026, at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 125 Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park, NY 11729, starting at 9:30 AM. Army honors will follow immediately after mass at 10:15AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church.
Frank Anthony Calandra, Jr. will be remembered not only for his significant contributions to his country but also for the warmth he provided to those he loved. His spirit will continue to resonate within the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
