Gary Hubert Wolf, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born on May 21, 1943, in Astoria, Queens, the son of German immigrants, Werner and Erna Wolf, he was raised in Deer Park, New York. Gary lived a life marked by dedication—to his family, his faith, and his work.
Gary’s journey was one of perseverance and commitment. While raising a young family and working full-time, he pursued higher education with unwavering determination. For nine years, he attended night classes at Hofstra University and proudly earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics in 1975. This achievement was a testament to his tireless work ethic and intellectual curiosity.
Professionally, Gary devoted the majority of his career to Cardion Electronics in the Defense and Space Sector. His expertise and passion for engineering later led him to roles at Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. Throughout his career, he contributed meaningfully to projects that advanced technology and national defense.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary found deep fulfillment in service to others. He was an active member of the Deer Park Presbyterian Church, where he served as a youth group advisor alongside his wife and held a position on the Session along with many other committees. He took great pride in maintaining the church’s infrastructure and often shared his engineering insights to ensure everything ran smoothly. To Gary, the church community was more than a congregation—it was an extended family.
For over six decades, Gary found peace and joy at the Presbyterian Holmes Camp and Retreat Center. It was there that he demonstrated both his enduring faith and love of nature. Camping was one of Gary’s favorite pastimes, whether close to home or afar, and he especially cherished time spent at the beach. He was an active committee member of the Lindenhurst Moose Lodge, where he enjoyed the activities held there.
Gary will be remembered for his ever-positive outlook on life. His smile and sense of humor were constants that brightened every room he entered and uplifted those around him. Gary never left home without his camera in hand so he could capture all of his life experiences.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathy; daughters Jayne Silverblade and son-in-law Dean, Karen Wolf, and Nancy Wolf; and grandchildren Ayla, Cassidy, and Richard. Gary was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Werner Wolf II. His legacy also lives on through the many lives he touched with kindness and laughter. May Gary Hubert Wolf’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire those who carry forward his spirit of warmth, service, and resilience.
