George M. Cipriano

June 16, 1935 — April 28, 2024

George Marciano Cipriano of Deer Park, NY, passed away on April 28, 2024. He was 88.

George was born on June 16, 1935, to Salvatore and Elizabeth Cipriano of Brooklyn, NY. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He then spent his career as a U.S Customs supervisor. For almost 40 years, he ensured the safety and security of passengers at JFK International Airport, which at times had him meeting celebrities such as Elton John, the cast of “The Love Boat,” and Pope John Paul II as they passed through the airport. He almost never asked for an autograph.

When he wasn’t working, George loved to watch the Mets and the Giants (when they won). After retirement, he and Vera spent some of their happiest weekends in Atlantic City with their longtime friends Dee, Jean, Jerry and Janet. He was also quite the card shark and hosted a regular poker game with former co-workers.

Family and friends were at the center of George's life and everyone was
always welcome at his home. He valued education, hard work, and showing up each day for work, for family, for friends, and for his responsibilities. He took incredible pride in the educational and career achievements of his children, and anything his grandchildren did.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Veronica Cipriano; his four children, Carol Cupo, John Cipriano, Elaine Cipriano and Michael Cipriano; his children-in-law Glenn Cupo, Ed Quigley, and Alexis Cipriano; his eight grandchildren Nicole, Amanda, Charlie, Julia, Brynna, Marisa, Adeline and Maya; his brother John Cipriano; and nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his sister Millie Cipriano and his sister-in-law Ginger Cipriano.

A visitation in honor of George M. Cipriano will be held on May 2 from 4pm to 8pm at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY. A funeral mass will take place on May 3 at 10:15 am at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park, NY. Following the mass, a burial ceremony will be held at Saint Charles Cemetery.

If you wish, donations can be made to Veterans Affairs, in Northport, NY (https://www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online/), which provided invaluable support to him and Vera in his last years.
