Grace Kollmer, devoted wife, beloved mother, mother in-law, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in Port Jefferson, New York, at the age of 89. Born on August 11, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, Grace graced the world with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Grace was married for over 60 years to the love of her life and best friend, Daniel Kollmer, who passed in 2020. Their dog Buddy, she loved so much, and he followed her everywhere.
She is deeply cherished by her surviving family members, including her two devoted sons, Daniel (Rosemarie) and Jay (Robin). Grace was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, Daniel (Colette), Danielle (Jon), Nicolle (Derek), Heather (Scott) & Billy (Jamie) and a great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, Daniel, Cliffy, Savannah, Teddy, Mason, Ella, Brooke, Brandon, Chase and Max, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Grace was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Deborah, her two brothers Robert and George, and her parents, Joseph Thoman and Grace Bauer, whose guidance and affection shaped the woman she became.
Grace was an avid holiday lover, celebrating every holiday without fail. There was never an Easter Sunday without egg decorating or an egg hunt. She even began collecting Halloween animatronics.
Family and friends may gather to pay their respects during visitation at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY, on October 21, 2025. The first session will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by another visitation from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A mass will be held on Wednesday, October 22 at 10:15am at Saints Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church. Family and friends attending the mass may meet at the funeral home at 9:15am.
Grace Kollmer will be remembered not only for her deep connection to her family but also for the love and compassion she extended to all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched throughout her life.
