James P. O'Hallorans

James P. O'Hallorans, a beloved figure whose life was defined by selflessness, courage, and bravery, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Calverton, New York. He was born on July 2, 1938, and lived a life rich with experiences that shaped the man he became.

At a very young age, James, along with his brothers and sister, faced the profound adversity of being orphaned. They became wards of the Roman Catholic Sisters of Charity at the Foundling Hospital in New York, navigating the foster care system where they were placed in various homes under the care of multiple sets of foster parents—some compassionate, and others notable abusive. During these formative years, the siblings were sometimes separated but also were able to bond with other orphaned children who shared similar backgrounds. It was during this time that they formed an unbreakable bond with Michael "Mickey" Hunt and Donnie, other brothers from different mothers, as well as their sister Julia, who shared a connection with Barbara "Chickie" Mayes. This band of brothers and sisters remained a tightly knit family throughout their lives, showing the resilience of their spirits and the love they had for one another.

James served honorably in the United States Army for 22 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. His commitment to his country was recognized with a Purple Heart, reflecting the bravery he displayed throughout his military service.

James is survived by his only daughter, Mary Anne Tucker, and his cherished grandchildren: Jarel Ramsey, Yasmin Campos, and Jessica Miller. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Amiyah and Ava Curry and Jackson Campos. The love he shared with his family will be forever remembered and cherished.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus O'Halloran, mother, Julia Marrero Perez, and siblings: Juan O'Hallorans, Julia O'Hallorans and Jesus O'Hallorans. Their memories will forever be a part of James’s legacy, echoing in the hearts of all who held him dear.
