March 20, 1974 — June 16, 2025

Coram, NY

James F. Shannon III, 51, of Coram, NY, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Originally from Merrimac, Massachusetts, Jim was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1992. A gifted athlete, he had a standout football career and was a highly decorated student-athlete. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by playing collegiate football at Hofstra University, where he achieved All American status as a defensive lineman. There he made many lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.

Following his undergraduate years, Jim earned his MBA from Stony Brook University, where he also began his coaching career. He went on to serve as an assistant football coach at Northeastern University before eventually settling in Long Island, NY, and starting his family.

Jim’s greatest joy came from coaching his sons in the sport he loved. His passion for the game, his love for his family, and the impact he had on young athletes will be remembered for generations.

Jim was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. He was predeceased by his father, James F. Shannon, II. He is survived by his three sons—Tyler, Brady, and Lucas Shannon—who were the pride and joy of his life and his former wife Jaclyn. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Anne Shannon; his siblings, Elizabeth (Shannon) Morin and her husband Shawn, Michael Shannon and his wife Shauna, and Reagan (Shannon) Quinn and her husband Matt. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will forever miss their Uncle Jim.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. Rest in peace #50.
