Jean Varlese (neé Evangelista) of Summerville, SC passed away on August 24, 2024. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, and a friend to many. Jean made her mark as a medical transcriptionist, a profession that required precision and attention to detail.

Jean graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial Diocesan HS, that reflected her strong devotion to her Catholic faith. Her professional journey was complemented by her nurturing spirit, love for family, and love for God. which she held dear throughout her life.

She is survived by her cherished daughter, Gina, and her son-in-law Bob Maurer. She is also survived by her grandchildren Andrew Maurer (Jennifer nee Hubbard), Anthony R. Varlese, Kerrin Maurer, and Nicholas Varlese, as well as her two Great-Grandchildren Brayden Maurer and Avery Maurer. Surviving her also are her Sister-in-Law Mary Varlese, her niece Rosemary Varlese-Killikelly and her nephew Frank R. Varlese. Jean's strong sense of family will be deeply missed by them and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jean was preceded in death by her late husband, Anthony, who passed away in 2015, her son Anthony Jr in 1997, and her beloved parents, Rocco and Rosa Evangelista. Their memories remain a cornerstone in the lives of those who loved her, and they will be remembered with affection as Jean's legacy continues through her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY 11953. Following the visitation a Mass of Christian Burial will held at Saint Frances Cabrini RC Church, 134 Middle Country Rd., Coram, NY 11727, at 1:00 PM that same day. Immediately following the funeral mass, family and friends will proceed to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, where Jean will be laid to rest with her husband and son. 

Jean's life was one of dedication, love, resilience, and religious devotion, leaving a lasting impact on her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched
