Joan Evadne Bailey was born September 17, 1952 in Kingston Jamaica to the late Oscar Bailey and Sylvia Jarrett. Joan was the second youngest of six children. She grew up alongside her siblings, Headley, Henry (Clint), Leslie (Trevor), Amy (Pam) and Tony. They were a close knit family. In pursuit of new opportunities, the family migrated to Panama, Republic of Panama. A journey that profoundly shaped their lives.
Joan completed her education at Colegio Richard Newman in Panama while working at Lavendaria Roman. There she developed the resilience, independence and strength that would come to define her character. At the age of 25, she moved to the United States where she was embraced by the Bryan family in Brooklyn NY, to whom she became a sister.
Joan was hardworking and dedicated. These attributes. was reflected in her 20 years of employment at Estee Lauder Companies, and in addition she worked at Costco Wholesale from 1999 to 2025. Joan was married to the late Fernando (Pepe) Evans who she described as her first love. They shared one daughter, Xiomara Evans. Later in life she met and married Clinton Weekes Sr. with whom she shared one son, Clinton Weekes Jr. Joan took immense pride in being a mother. She poured her love, guidance and devotion into raising Xio and Jr. They were her greatest joys.
On Sunday, January 25th, 2026, Joan passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of cherished loved ones. Her children Xiomara Evans and Clinton Weekes, Jr. Her grandchildren who affectionately called her Nana: Kimora Caldwell, Hunter Weekes, Nova Weekes, Gyptian Weekes and Basquiat Weekes.. Daughter-in-law Brooke Weekes, Sister-in-law, Desta Bailey and her brothers, Clint, Trevor and Tony Bailey. Each grandchild carries a piece of her indomitable spirit, her strength, generosity and her warmth.
Joan Evadne Bailey will be remembered as a devoted, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and dear friend. Joan's life was marked by perseverance, love and strength. Her memory and her smile will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her and in the generations she helped shape. Mom is now in heaven with her grandson. Knowing you are there watching over Idris brings us great comfort.
