Joan Remson Etersque, born on November 27, 1934, left this world on July 10, 2026. Her passing marks the end of a remarkable life characterized by love, devotion, and vibrant warmth—traits that made her beloved by all who knew her.
Joan’s story is woven with the brilliance of simple joys and lifelong commitments. After earning her high school diploma, she spent her career serving as a crossing guard for the Suffolk County Police Department.
At the heart of Joan’s life was her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Anthony Etersque (December 1973), and together they created a loving home filled with laughter, tradition, and unbreakable bonds. Her legacy lives on in her children: Joananne and her husband Jimmy LoRusso, Anthony and his wife Suzanne Etersque, Michael and his wife Joan Etersque, and Sue and her husband Mike Prescia. Her family grew and blossomed, a direct testament to the unconditional love Joan poured out daily.
Her influence echoes in her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way, with the joyful anticipation of another great-grandchild soon to join the family. Nothing brought Joan greater happiness than being surrounded by her loved ones, her presence at family gatherings ensuring that laughter, stories, and wisdom were always in abundance.
Joan’s personality shone in every interaction—she was known for her kindness and caring nature, always putting family above all else. Her zest for life was infectious. She loved going out and reveling in the company of friends, cherishing good times and lively conversations. Poker nights brought out her competitive side and delighted those around her. She relished giving orders, often with a mischievous twinkle in her eye that was impossible to resist. Equally, her deep love of Jesus Christ guided her, infusing her days with faith, hope, and gratitude.
