Joan Elizabeth Spates

Joan Elizabeth Spates, born on December 17, 1942, peacefully passed away on August 21 2024, in North Carolina. Throughout her life, Joan touched the hearts of those around her with her warm spirit and unwavering kindness.She is survived by her beloved children, Charlene VanBorkulo (Victor), John Spates (Suzanne); and Timmothy Spates (Joanne). She was a beloved grandmother to Amanda Stankiewitz (Myles), Erin Leigh, Jessica, Nicholas Didio and Katelyn Dido Weber (Kevin) and a doating great grandmother to Bentley James, Sofia Herschell, Thomas, Kennedy and Natalie. The celebration of Joan's life will be held at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, New York. Visitation will take place on August 26, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and again on August 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, as well as from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Prayer Service will be held on August 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the same location. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.Joan's legacy will live on through the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
