Joanne Weissman DiFate

November 23, 1946 — July 12, 2025

Joanne Weissman DiFate, born on November 23, 1946, in Jamaica, NY, journeyed from this world on July 12, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joanne's presence was a buoyant light that wrapped those around her in warmth and love.

Survived by her devoted husband, Vincent DiFate, Joanne exemplified partnership—sharing life’s joys and navigating its trials with grace and strength. She was the proud mother of three: Douglas (Jennifer) Weissman, Jessica (Larry) Lafferty, and Paul (Andrea) Weissman. Each of her children held a special place in her heart, and she poured her love into them generously through every stage of their lives. Her legacy continues to shine brightly through her six cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Julia, Alexa, Jack, Declan, and Daniel, who brought endless joy to her days.

Joanne also shared a precious bond with her loving sister, Diane Leone, whose companionship provided a source of comfort and support throughout their lives. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles McKinnell, whose memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Joanne will remember her vivacious spirit, her undeniable kindness, and her ability to make everyone feel valued. Her ability to listen, to give sage advice, and to offer unconditional support made her not just a family member but a dear friend to many. She inspired everyone around her to embrace life fully, reminding them of the beauty found in both the great and small moments.

As family and friends gather to celebrate her life, her vibrancy will continue to resonate in the kind words and fond memories shared amidst the sorrow of her passing. Visitation services will be held at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY, on July 17 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on July 18 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a prayer service beginning at noon. Joanne will then be laid to rest at New Montefiore Cemetery in Pinelawn, NY, where her family can find solace in the knowledge that her spirit will forever remain with them as they share their lives and stories moving forward.

Joanne Weissman DiFate will be deeply missed, yet her love, laughter, and wisdom will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
