Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He is survived by his beloved spouse Kathryn (Nee: Chiusano) Pugliese, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they shared a deep love that served as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to witness it.

John was a loving father to Gina Pugliese, Barbra Occhino, and Andrea (Dr. Salvatore) Giantinoto. He cherished every moment spent with them and took pride in watching them grow into remarkable individuals. John treasured his role as a father and embraced the joy of seeing his children flourish. He leaves behind twelve grandchildren who were the light of his life. In addition to his grandchildren, John had the pleasure of witnessing three great-grandchildren enter this world. Their boundless energy filled him with a sense of wonderment that only young ones can provide.

John's parents, the late Joseph and the late Marie Pugliese, influenced him profoundly with their values of compassion, dedication, and hard work. Their love and guidance molded him into the incredible individual he became. He carried their wisdom with him throughout his life and instilled those same principles in his own family.

Throughout his career, John served the community as a respected member of the N.Y.C. Police Department. His unwavering commitment to justice and protecting others earned him the admiration and gratitude of his colleagues and the residents he proudly served. John's education played a vital role in shaping his exemplary character. He obtained an Associates degree, which provided him with not only knowledge but also instilled in him a thirst for learning and self-improvement throughout his life.

Visitation services for John will take place at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. The first visitation event will be held on October 22, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a second visitation event from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. These gatherings will provide an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues, and community members to pay their respects to a remarkable man who touched countless lives.

A funeral mass will be held at Ss. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church at 11:15am on Monday, October 23, 2023. Friends who wish to attend the funeral mass are kindly asked to meet directly at church no later than 11am.
