Joseph A. Gusmerotti

August 6, 1934 — October 26, 2022

We are heartbroken by the death of our beloved father, Joseph A. Gusmerotti. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 88.

Joe was born in Brooklyn in 1934 to Paul and Albina Gusmerotti. He was the oldest son of nine children. He graduated from Bishop Laughlin High School at the age of 17 and immediately started working at Citi Bank until an early retirement at the age of 53. This early retirement allowed him to focus on things that he cared about most, his family, friends, the church, giving back to the community, and helping and loving others no matter the circumstances.

He is survived by five of his six children: Kathleen, Joseph (Janet), Steven (Kathleen), Christine (Daniel), and Daniel (Marsha), two siblings: Frank and Theresa, seven grandchildren: Alexa, Jaclyn, Daniel, Austin, Douglas, Gabrielle, and Matthew, and two great-grandchildren: Ryleigh and Carter.

His son Kenneth, his beloved first wife Audrey, the love of his life, whom he married in 1958 and spent 38 years happily married until her passing in 1996 predeceased him. That then led him to his second love, Donna (Manke), whom he lost recently in 2019.

With that second marriage he was fortunate to have expanded his family to include Donna’s seven children and their families. He loved them deeply.

Joseph was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all. He lived an incredibly full life and his spirit will live in our hearts forever.

As Joe often asked, “Have I told you lately that I love you?” He told us frequently and we undoubtedly felt it.

Visitation will be held at Mangano’s Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 from 3pm-8pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Cyril’s and Methodius on Monday, October 31 at 10:15am.
