Joseph Andrew Cushman

Joseph Andrew Cushman, a dedicated High Voltage electrical worker for IBEW Local #3, US Army Veteran during Vietnam War 82nd Airborne infantry, and cherished husband and father, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Stony Brook, New York. Born on July 14, 1947, and grew up in Hell’s Kitchen on West Side New York City, Joseph’s life was marked by diligence, skill, and a deep devotion to his loved ones.

Joseph was a proud holder of a Bachelor's degree and was widely respected as a master craftsman in his field. His commitment to excellence was matched only by his caring nature. Beyond his professional achievements, Joseph was known for his passions and zest for life. He found great joy in deep sea fishing and was winner of multiple tournaments in Montauk, He enjoyed playing and watching sports was an ardent fan of the New York Yankees. For 25 years, he was an avid bowler, reflecting his love for both sport and community. Above all, Joseph was a loving and caring individual, qualities that touched everyone who knew him.

He shared over 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Ann, who survives him. Joseph is also lovingly remembered by his children, Jennifer Cushman-Voccia and her husband Carlo Voccia, as well as his son, Joseph John Cushman, Jr. The family cherishes the legacy of kindness and warmth he left behind. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Cushman, whose memory he carried with honor throughout his life.

A series of services will be held in Joseph’s memory, allowing friends and family to come together and celebrate his remarkable life. Visitation will take place on June 13 and June 14, 2026, at the Mangano Family Funeral Home Of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY 11953. On Monday, June 15, 2026, a Mass at 11:15 a.m. at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church of Smithtown will be held in Joseph's honor, located at 280 E Main St, Smithtown, NY 11787.Joseph Andrew Cushman’s enduring spirit, his dedication to family, and the joy he found in everyday moments will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life stands as a testament to hard work, loyalty, and compassion—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him.
