Josephine Alessi, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 88 in Holtsville, NY. Born on July 22, 1937, Josephine lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service. Her professional career as a secretary for Western Suffolk BOCES is a testament to her commitment to education and the support of others in her community.
Josephine was a proud mother to her daughters, Joyce Alessi and Mary Grace Pego, who, alongside her husband Paul, cherished the memories they created together. She also leaves behind her son Michael Alessi and his wife Ellen, who will forever hold their mother's love and wisdom close to their hearts. As a grandmother, Josephine's legacy continues to flourish through her grandchildren: Christopher Pego and his wife Kimberly, Nicole Pearsall and her husband Billy, Michael Alessi and his wife Julia, Michala Alessi, and Emily Ann Alessi. She was especially delighted to welcome her great-grandchildren, Hunter and Gianna Pearsall, who brought additional joy into her life. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gasper Alessi, whose memory she cherished dearly, as well as her parents, Liborio and Mary Gallina. Their influence shaped the woman she became, and their love was a foundation of strength throughout her life.
Josephine's family invites all to join them in celebrating her life during the visitation services to be held on January 16, 2026, at Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass to honor her memory will take place on January 17, 2026, at Good Shepherd RC Church in Holbrook, beginning at 10:00 AM.
As we remember Josephine Alessi, we pay tribute to the profound impact she had on her family and friends. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and remarkable legacy will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
