Julia Rao (neé Lupia) of Dix Hills, N.Y., a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife, peacefully passed away on January 20, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Born on October 3, 1921, Julia lived a life filled with warmth, compassion, and dedication to her family.

Julia's devotion to her loved ones was immeasurable. She was the loving daughter of Julius Lupia and Antoinette Funaro, and was raised in Middle Village, Glendale, and Fresh Meadows areas.  She was married to her devoted late husband, Anthony Rao, for many blessed years. 

As a mother, Julia's love knew no bounds. She leaves behind three children: Julius (Jody) Rao, Patricia (Raymond) Kelly, and Anthony (Marie) Rao. Julia's unwavering support and unconditional love were constant sources of comfort and strength for her children. She instilled in them the importance of compassion, resilience, and perseverance.  Aside from her immediate family, Julia was a doting grandmother to Lauren, Anthony III and Sara and great-grandmother to Julia and Sarah.  Her life was made more complete with each generation she witnessed. She is predeceased by beloved siblings Katie, Eleanor, Grace, Tony and Paul, whose shared memories of growing up together brough immense joy to Julia's life. 

Friends and loved ones will gather for visitation services in honor of Julia at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729 on January 24, 2024. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A prayer service will begin at 1:00pm.  A burial service will follow at Saint Charles Cemetery situated at 2015 Wellwood Ave, East Farmingdale, NY 11735. The burial ceremony will take place at 2:00PM, allowing family and friends to pay their final respects.

Julia Rao's presence in our lives will forever be missed, but the memories of her love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us. She leaves behind a legacy of family values that will be cherished for generations to come. We take solace in knowing that Julia has found eternal peace and has been reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.

In this moment of loss, let us celebrate the extraordinary life of Julia Rao.
