Islip, NY

Lawrence J. Trapp, a beloved father, grandfather and a devoted professional, passed away on October 5, 2025, in Patchogue, NY, at the age of 91. Born on March 9, 1934, in Jamaica, Queens, Lawrence dedicated over 50 years of his life to a remarkable career as a Contract Manager for Skanska Project Development & Construction Company. He poured his heart and soul into his work, ultimately retiring at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of dedication that his family will always cherish.

A proud veteran, Lawrence served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. He was a man of impeccable organization, always seen in a collared shirt paired with jeans, with a trusty pen nestled comfortably in his shirt pocket—these simple traits defined his persona and served as a testament to his meticulous nature.

Lawrence had an immense love for animals, especially for his late companion, Max, who undoubtedly held a special place in his heart. His vibrant personality shone through in moments filled with laughter and joy. He had a wonderful sense of humor, often adding a touch of snark to his playful banter, particularly when engaging with his granddaughters, Nicolette Hallahan and Ariana Trapp. These interactions not only showcased his love but also built treasured memories that will be fondly remembered by his family.

An avid sports fan, Lawrence relished in his passion for the New York Mets, Green Bay Packers, and the New York Islanders. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, savoring a glass of red wine while sharing stories and laughter with his loved ones.

Lawrence is survived by his son, John Trapp, and daughter-in-law, Maria (Nee Mento) Trapp; his cherished granddaughters, Nicolette (Reese) Hallahan and Ariana (Justin) Trapp; his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, John & Maryann Maddock and Kathy & Neal Beekman; along with many nieces and nephews who held him dear.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (Nee Maddock) Trapp, a loss that has left a lasting imprint on the hearts of his family.

In honor of Lawrence's life, a Mass will be held at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park, NY, on October 29, 2025, at 11:15 AM, followed by a burial at Calverton National Cemetery. As family and friends gather to pay their respects, they will undoubtedly share stories of a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many with his love and laughter. Lawrence J. Trapp will forever be remembered as a devoted family man, a kind-hearted friend, and a steadfast professional whose life mirrored the values of love, organization, and humor. May he rest in peace.
