Lena Montalbano
December 23, 1928- June 5, 2025
Lena Graziano Montalbano was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 23, 1928, and passed away peacefully in Henderson, Nevada on June 5, 2025.
The daughter of Anna and Gennaro Graziano, she was one of 9 siblings. Her only surviving sister is Immaculate Savino. She was married to Anthony E. Montalbano on June 2, 1951. Anthony passed on May 28, 2003. They raised 3 children together. Her only surviving child, Karen Ann Casmass, married to Richard Casmass. She is the grandmother of Jeanne Marie (Nick) Grewe, Richard A. Casmass, Sarah (Micah) Weesner and Anna (Andrew) Hudgins. Great grandmother of Kaylee and Makenna Grewe and the soon to be baby Weesner.
Lena lived a life of caring for many children over the years as a dedicated Day Care provider for NYS Social Services. Over the years she cared for so many children that loved and adored her but specifically maintained a relationship over all her years with Rachelle Perez.
Lena loved arts and crafts with specific talents in ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Over the years she made many outstanding treasures. After her eyes failed her, she did what she could by memory until the very end.
After Anthony passed, she spent the remaining years doting over her grandchildren and chatting on the phone, which was her favorite pastime. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and made every attempt to call each one on their special day.
At the age of 90 she bravely moved west with Karen and Rick to be closer to their family. It was a big change that was only possible because being near her family was her biggest desire. There she was cared for by Rick and Karen and all of their children, spouses and grandchildren until her peaceful passing in June.
A celebration of her life will be held in Henderson, NV on June 21, 2025 and in New York on June 29, 2025 with the burial at Calverton to lay her to rest with her beloved husband Anthony on June 30, 2025.
In honor of my Mom, as we did with my Dad years ago, we will be having a beautiful tree planted where she sat and relaxed in our backyard in her last days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation that will live on forever here: https://gofund.me/e2b82a21
