Lynda Cosgrove, a dedicated speech pathologist and loving matriarch, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Melville, NY, at the age of 77. Born on September 22, 1948, in New York, NY, Lynda’s early life was shaped by her strong family values and a deep-seated commitment to her community.
Lynda's professional journey as a speech pathologist was marked by her passion for helping others communicate and thrive. Her career was not just a job; it was a calling that she embraced wholeheartedly throughout her life. Lynda was known for her patience, kindness, and unwavering support to those she served.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Lynda found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, cultivating beauty in her surroundings, and enjoyed hiking, often exploring nature’s wonders. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her devotion to her faith and the community at her church. Lynda’s grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Lynda is survived by her two beloved daughters, Laurie Rollman and Debbie Nichollas, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and care, and her grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Olivia, and Jordyn. She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, William Rothbaum, and her parents, Salvatore and Anastasia Scollo, who played instrumental roles in shaping the person she became.
Visitation services will be held on February 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY. A burial service will follow on February 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY.
Lynda Cosgrove’s caring spirit and love for family and friends will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
