Mary Susan Tornabe, a devoted Registered Nurse, cherished mother, grammy, great-grammy, sister and friend, passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 69 in Providence, RI. Born on October 13, 1956, in Queens, NY, Mary lived a life filled with service, compassion, and a commitment to caring for others.

Mary Sue’s dedication to her profession as a Registered Nurse was evidenced not only by her exceptional skill but also by the genuine love and warmth she provided to her patients. She held an Associate's degree, which equipped her with the foundational knowledge that she continually built upon throughout her notable career. Among her proudest accomplishments was her publication through Stony Brook University research, showcasing her commitment to improving patient care and advancing the field of nursing.

Mary Sue is survived by her three daughters, Virginia and her boyfriend John, Mary Elizabeth and her husband Frank, and Katherine and her husband Chuck. The lights of her life were her grandchildren: Dominic Gabriel, Kendra Lillith, Andrew Jonah, Mary Lourdes, Henry Charles, and James Michael, alongside her cherished great-grandchild, Kora Rylee. She also leaves behind her brother, Peter Smith, and sisters Judith, Virginia, and Joanne, who will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lenny and her beloved parents, Gerard and Frances Smith, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.

Visitation services for Mary Sue will be held on February 12, 2026, at the Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island in Middle Island, NY, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass celebrating her life will take place the following day, February 13, 2026, at Saint Mark's RC Church, located in Shoreham, NY, beginning at 10:15 AM.

Mary Sue Tornabe's legacy of caring, compassion, and family devotion will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit will live on through her beloved family and the many lives she touched throughout her career.
