Maryann Klass, known for her kindness and caring spirit, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on March 12, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, Maryann dedicated her life to helping others, especially during her time as a nurse at South Oaks Psychiatric Hospital, where she touched the lives of many.
Throughout her life, Maryann cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her three sons, Karl Klass Jr. and his wife Kelly, Joseph Klass and his wife Joy, and Steven Klass and his wife Susan, who remember her not only as their mother but as a guiding light in their lives. She also leaves behind eight wonderful grandchildren, who provided her with great joy and happiness.
Maryann had a caring personality that endeared her to those around her. She was particularly devoted to her late husband, Karl Klass Sr., whose memory she cherished. Together they built a family characterized by love, warmth, and a deep devotion to Jesus. With hidden courage and a surprising thirst for adventure, they raised three boys in far away places, expanding the family's footprint from Long Island to Hong Kong and Kuwait.
Mom loved her coffee time with friends, but especially enjoyed sitting and talking with her sons. She taught them to be men of strong character with gentle spirits. With a home full of boys, she was thrilled to eventually have three daughters-in-law, who she loved as her very own!
Visitation for Maryann will be held on January 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. A prayer service will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Her legacy of compassion and love will endure in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with her husband, the love of her life, and now both reside in the arms of their savior, Jesus.
