Michael Broshowski, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on April 13, 1940, Michael grew up with a deep sense of responsibility, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He received his high school diploma and, soon after, began carving a path defined by service, loyalty, and hard work.
In 1968, Michael joined the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), embarking on a proud and noble career that spanned over a quarter of a century. As a fireman with the FDNY until his retirement in 1994, he courageously protected his community, exemplifying bravery and selflessness each day on the job.
Beyond his professional life, Michael's greatest joy came from the time spent with his cherished family. He shared sixty years of devoted marriage with his wife, Patricia, marking a remarkable journey of partnership and mutual respect. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home where love and laughter flourished.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children, Suzanne and her husband Chip Forte, Michael and his wife Drina Broshowski, Michelle and her husband John Pappas, his treasured grandchildren; John Ryan, Jillian, Madison, Cole, Noah, Luke, Brendan (Kasey), Alexandra (Thomas), Riley (Stephanie), and Mikayla. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren; Caeden, Thomas, Elena, and Carson, as well as his sisters, Katherine and Janet. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Barbara, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout the years.
Known by those around him as a gentle giant, Michael's character was defined by kindness, generosity, and a pervasive selflessness. He was happiest when surrounded by family, serving as the steadfast anchor in their lives. Michael found great pleasure in the simple joys of fishing, boating, and golfing—pastimes that allowed him to relax and connect with nature. For nearly two decades, his second home in Masthope, Pennsylvania, became a haven where memories were made, stories shared, and friendships deepened.
His legacy is woven through the lives of those who knew and loved him: in every act of compassion, in every lesson imparted, and in the countless moments he shared as a devoted family man. Michael Broshowski, Jr. will be dearly missed, forever remembered for the love he gave so freely and the exemplary life he led.
A celebration of life to follow, date pending.
