Michael J. "Mick" Freddo

August 19, 1950 — July 18, 2025

North Babylon, New York

Michael J. Freddo, affectionately known as "Mick" to family and friends, passed away on July 18, 2025, at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born on August 19, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, Mick lived a life characterized by love, generosity, and an adventurous spirit. He was a gentle soul with a kind heart and a keen sense of humor.

For 51 wonderful years, he was married to his best friend, Helena Freddo (née Benevento) and together they created a loving home. Mick was a devoted father to his three children, Eric Freddo, Anthony (Melissa) Freddo, and Lauren (Jerry) Ashrafi, who remember him not only for his wise and thoughtful guidance but also for his sharp wit and playfulness that brightened their days. His grandchildren—Devon, Simon, Olivia, Nathan, Clara, and Madden—were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

For 38 years, Mick worked for Banfi Products. Mick had a great love for sailing on his boat, the Miss Hellie, travel, reading, puzzles - and of course, spending time with his loved ones. His adventures took him backpacking through Europe at a young age—a life changing journey that deepened his thirst for exploration and new experiences.

Mick's warmth extended beyond his immediate family. He was close to his brothers James, Paul, Steven, Gerry, and Richard; predeceased by his beloved brother, Robert Freddo, and his  devoted parents, Michael and Marion Freddo. Mick is also survived by many brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mick leaves behind a legacy etched in love and laughter.  His gentle spirit will sorely be missed.

In tribute to Mick, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on July 21 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home. A second visitation will take place on July 22 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass will be celebrated in his honor at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church on July 23 at 10:15 AM, followed by a burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 11:30 AM.

Mick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
