Michael Lauri, a beloved husband, father, poppy, and treasured member of his community, passed away on June 1, 2026, in Huntington Station, New York. Born on January 20, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Michael’s life was a testament to dedication, warmth, and perseverance.
A man who possessed both a brilliant mind and a gentle soul, Michael earned a Master’s degree and dedicated his professional career to accounting. In 1972, he founded his own company in Deer Park, where he became known not only as a trusted CPA but also as a steadfast advisor whose integrity and friendliness touched everyone he met. Michael had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went, a trait that defined both his personal and professional lives.
Beyond his career, Michael was a passionate runner, embracing the challenge of the sport with the same determination that characterized his work. Among his proudest accomplishments were completing the New York City and Boston marathons, feats that demonstrated his unparalleled strength and discipline. Michael would say often, "There is more miles on this body than most cars".
Michael shared 62 wonderful years with his beloved spouse, Mary Ellen, whose partnership was a source of unwavering support and love. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family, cherishing their children, Michael (Kimberly), and Denise (Anthony). His heart overflowed with pride and affection for his grandchildren—Lilly, Jack, Mia, and Finn—each of whom brought endless smiles and warmth into his life. He is survived by his sister Rose, and predeceased by his sister Florence.
Known for his friendly nature and generous spirit, Michael was a beacon of kindness—a friend ready to lend an ear or share a laugh. His gentle presence and wise counsel left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family, friends, and all who cherished Michael will gather to honor his memory at a visitation on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY. A funeral mass will be held the following morning, Monday, June 8, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Melville, NY. Inurnment will follow at Saint Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale.
Michael Lauri’s legacy is one of heartfelt connections, professional excellence, and a loving family bound together by his enduring spirit. His memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his honor to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
