It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Monserrate C. Vidot, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dedicated detective. Monserrate was born on January 14, 1948, in Camuy, Puerto Rico to his parents Monserrate Sr. and Luz Maria. He departed this world on August 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment to his family and community.
His education was anchored in his strong values, emerging as a high school graduate. Monserrate devoted many years of his life as a detective with Precinct 73 of the NYPD. His career was not just a job but a passion, reflecting his unwavering sense of duty and care for others. He approached each day with dedication and integrity, qualities that inspired his colleagues and those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Above all, Monserrate cherished his family more than anything. He was a devoted spouse to Gladys Vidot, with whom he shared a profound bond. Together, they built a beautiful family filled with laughter and love. Monserrate was proud of his three children: Anthony and his wife Charise, Andy and his wife Angelica, and Annette Vidot. He looked on with immense joy as he embraced each of his grandchildren—Alexis, Alyssa, Anthony Jr., Abryanna, Ania, Adrianna, Alexa, Taylah, Tianna, and Andy Jr.—and reveled in the delight they brought into his life.
As a great grandfather, Monserrate’s heart expanded even further with the arrival of his great grandchildren: Amari, Sky, River, Kai, Sage, Alisha, Aliyah, Josalyn, and Olivia. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories full of warmth and affection.
Monserrate is also survived by his brothers, Raymond, Jesus, and Rafael, who will remember him fondly and honor his memory by embodying the same love and dedication he exhibited throughout his life.
