Pat McGovern

Pat McGovern, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 20, 1934, in the Bronx, New York to his parents Farrell and Margaret McGovern. Pat lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family and country.

Pat served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him the values of honor and commitment. Throughout his life, he exemplified these principles in every relationship and endeavor, making a profound impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his cherished family: his daughter Nora Johnson (Dick), his son Patrick J. McGovern (Susan), his daughter Cathleen DiPeri (Michael), his son Tommy McGovern (Kari), and Jimmy McGovern (Dana). Pat was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and delighted in the joy of 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to his life. Pat is also survived by his sister Josephine Carew and sister-in-law Anna Higgins, and Uncle Buster to many loving nieces and nephews.  

Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah, whom he was married to for a wonderful 63 years, his father Farrell and his mother Margaret, who nurtured him with love and guidance throughout his formative years. Their teachings continued to resonate throughout his life and were evident in the way he cared for his own family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY. The following day, a Mass in his honor will take place at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, starting at 11:15 AM, with services concluding shortly after 12:15 PM.

Pat McGovern leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but warmly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
