Peter A. Wolpensinger

Peter Alex Wolpensinger passed away peacefully on April 17 at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of Barbara Wolpensinger of Deer Park, New York, he was the loving father of Michael Wolpensinger and his wife Angela of New Fairfield, Connecticut; Dianne Colelli and her husband Bill of Rochester, New York; and Charlie Wolpensinger and his wife Leigh of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He was a cherished grandfather to Danielle, Sarah, Ben, and Faye.

Peter was born on June 10, 1947, to the late Alex Wolpensinger and Susan (Knopf) Wolpensinger. He was predeceased by his sisters Anne and Mary Wolpensinger and is survived by his sister Therese Schmitt of Charles City, Iowa.

Growing up in Queens, New York, Peter attended Brooklyn Polytechnic and went on to become a licensed civil engineer. He dedicated his career to public service, working for the New York City Parks Department and later serving as Director of Engineering for the Town of Huntington.

Peter found great joy in traveling with his beloved wife Barbara and spending time at their cabin in Red Hook, New York, where he took pride in building, maintaining, and thoughtfully curating the land. He had a lifelong passion for sailing and treasured time spent with friends at the Ketewomoke Yacht Club.

Peter will be remembered for his devotion to family, his steady work ethic, and the warmth and companionship he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
