Philip L. Mazzola, a devoted pharmacist and cherished family man, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Smithtown, NY. Born on March 15, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, he lived a life that was both rich in service and full of love for his family.
After honorably in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, Philip pursued a bachelor’s degree and began a fulfilling career as a pharmacist at Pilgrim Psychiatric Facility in Brentwood, NY. His dedication to his profession touched many lives, and he was known for his commitment to the well-being of his patients.
Philip was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy Mazzola, who predeceased him. He leaves behind a legacy that stands strong through his surviving family. He is survived by his son, John L. Mazzola, and daughter-in-law, Vivienne; his daughter, Janet Mazzola; and his daughter, Carol Pacelo, along with her husband Tom. Philip took great joy in the love of his family, which includes four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Josephine Saraco. Philip's life was characterized by his love for his family, his commitment to his profession, and his unwavering integrity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation services will be held on September 17, 2025, at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, NY, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass in his honor will take place the following day, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Saint John the Evangelist, also in Riverhead, NY.
